Sarah

In the Bible, Sarah (Hebrewשָׂרָה ) is the wife of Abraham and mother of Isaac. Her name was initially Sarai before God changed it.

She was past child bearing years when she overheard angels who were visiting her husband say she would have a son. She laughed when she heard, but denied it when the angels questioned her. It took many years for the promise to be fulfilled, during which time Sarah gave Abraham her maidservant Hagar to have a child with. Once Sarah gave birth to Isaac over a decade later, she saw to it that Hagar and her son Ishmael by Abraham were banished.

Sarah was the first of the patriarchs and matriarchs to be buried in Mearat Machpelah (the Cave of the Patriarchs). Eventually all the patriarchs and all the matriarchs but Rachel would be buried there. In Hebrew, the name Sarah means "princess" or "lady."
