Aphrodite was the Greek Goddess of Beauty and Love. She was called Venus by the Romans, after the evening star (which we know today is a planet called Venus).
Aphrodite was married to Ares, the god of War, but she was secretly in love with Hephaestus (Vulcan), the blacksmith god.
