Lisa (Chick tract)
Lisa is a religious tract written by Jack Chick. It was originally printed in 1984 and currently remains an out-of-print title. Due to the controversial subject matter (child sexual abuse) and its trivial handling of it, Chick Publications neither sells the tract nor makes it available (unlike all other out-of-print titles) on its website.
The tract depicts Henry, an angry, unemployed man, who spends his time watching pornography. One of his viewings is interrupted by Charlie, a neighbor who has heard "local gossip" that Henry sexually abuses his daughter, Lisa. But instead of confronting Henry or reporting the abuse to law enforcement, he blackmails Charlie in order to gain access to Lisa for himself.
Lisa becomes ill and is diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease. However, the doctor - instead of reporting the abuse to law enforcement - merely suggests to Henry that the matter can be solved by Henry merely saying the "sinner's prayer" to receive Christ. Later, Henry confesses his actions to his wife, who admits her own involvement in the matter (physical abuse and hiding his actions), on the basis that she herself was an abuse victim. The couple later tell Lisa that they will stop abusing her.
A supposed "revision" of the tract - where the doctor states that he will report Henry's actions to law enforcement - didn't quell the controversy, and Chick later withdrew the publication from sale. However, copies of the tract can be found on eBay and other resale sites.
