Barrow in Furness is an industrial town in the traditional county of Lancashire, north-west England. It is the largest settlement within the council area Westmorland and Furness. Formerly known for iron and steel making, it is also a shipbuilding town: the Vickers shipyard constructs nuclear submarines and warships. Part of the town lies on Walney Island, connected by bridge to the mainland.
