Iowa City

Iowa City is the largest city in, and the county seat of, Johnson County, in eastern Iowa. According to the 2000 US Census Bureau the population in 2000 was 62,220.[1] Iowa City was chosen as the first state capital of Iowa, and served as the Capital City until 1857 when the Capital was moved to the more centrally located Des Moines. Iowa City is home to the University of Iowa.
