Governor of Kentucky
2019 election
Beshear ran for and won the 2019 Kentucky gubernatorial election over Republican then-incumbent Matt Bevin by less than 1% of the vote.[2]
Tenure
In late February 2020, Beshear justified taking pictures with a drag queen by accusing critics of being “absolutely homophobic”.[3]
Gov. Beshear vetoed legislation that would effectively prohibit infanticide.[4]
Amidst the CCP virus in the United States, Beshear restricted the operation of businesses and churches, although abortion clinics were kept open.[5] He was strongly criticized by Sen. Rand Paul for being “drunk with his power”.[6]
