The Abel Prize is an annual award to honor mathematicians by the country of Norway, similar to the Nobel Prize. The prize is named in honor of the Norwegian mathematician Niels Henrik Abel, who had accomplishments in group theory.

In 2015, the recipient of the Abel Prize was John Nash, who then tragically died in a taxicab crash on his return to New Jersey.
