St Helens

St Helens is an industrial town in Merseyside, United Kingdom.
Historically St Helens was located in Lancashire and developed in thethe 19th century as a significant centre for coal mining, pharmaceuticals and glassmaking. The urban area hasa total population of 176,843 at the time of the 2001 census.
Sport
Unusually in England, the predominant team sport is not soccer, but rugby league. As well as a large number of amateur clubs, the town hosts St Helens RLFC. The club has won the Challenge Cup ten times, World Club Challenge in 2001 and 2007. The club has also won Super League (Europe) a record six times.
The town also has a soccer club, St Helens Town FC which play in the first division of the North West Counties Football League.
