Talk:Woke

Return to "Woke" page.

I think that this is a tightly-written article. It uses the David Brooks quote because it explains how "woke" is different from "cool". Hence, woke is not cool. All conservatives will agree with that. Adding insults about David Brooks detract from the article because by calling into question David Brooks, you call into question the correct conclusion drawn by the quote.

Most normal people do not know what "woke" means and if they heard the term, we want them to come to Conservapedia to find out about it. The people who read the article will want to trust it. But the insult distracts the reader from the main point of the paragraph -- woke is not cool. NeilG (talk) 22:51, 16 February 2018 (EST)

We know who you are, "NeilG", but I'll briefly respond anyway, both to this comment and these (1, 2).
David Brooks is clearly a token conservative. The article makes clear that he's a fake media "conservative." The way I worded it is not anything unusual. If it were someone like Anne Coulter, I would say "conservative commentator Anne Coulter", just like I wrote "token conservative columnist David Brooks."
Also, if you compare your original version with the Wikipedia article, you clearly took the David Brooks paragraph from Wikipedia, and you just changed around a few words (and per this discussion, it's not OK). What I did was revise the wording and formatting to make the two articles less similar. Since CP's "Woke" article is only three paragraphs long (including the single-sentenced intro), the David Brooks paragraph takes up a large proportion of the overall article.
If you going to quibble with how I referred myself, yes, if you want me to be very accurate with my terminology, I'm an assistant admin. Excuse me for using shorthand (even if it wasn't a good idea). --1990'sguy (talk) 23:42, 16 February 2018 (EST)
