Richard Gere (b. 1949) is an American actor and Buddhist, known primarily for his leading-man good looks and his ultra-liberal political activism.
In April 2007, authorities in India issued an order for his arrest for kissing Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on the cheek, which violates social mores there.
