Today, I look at my daughter and I think, "Oh my God! My mother loved me this much!" It was always something that I wanted to quantify. I kept thrashing around trying to figure it out. In time, the answer came. My father always used to say, “Your mother would have been so proud of you.” And today, I realise that a lot of my character must come from her. Princess Haya bint Al Hussein (born Amman, Jordan, 1974 - ) Sheikha of Dubai, is the junior wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of Dubai, one of late King Hussein I of Jordan's daughters and sister of the current King of Jordan Abdullah II. Princess Haya is an outstanding sportswoman, competing even in the 2000 Olympic Games. She has been President of the International Equestrian Federation (2006 - 2010), UN Messenger of Peace (2007), and is engaged in several humanitarian activities.

Princess Haya has underlined the need to use sport as a cost-effective tool to accelerate the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to improve the lives of the world’s poorest people by 2015... She highlighted that poverty is no longer a problem restricted to a particular country or nation; that even the developed world is not immune.

“The work that we do during our lifetime and the lives that we touch will be our legacy, our gift to the future generations of Palestine – one that I hope will be passed on to their children and their children’s children,” stated Princess Haya. “Our passion for sport in this region provides us with an opportunity to change lives and develop young people. None of us have the capacity to individually solve the problems of the world, but collectively, we can help find solutions and provide hope to the children and youth of Palestine.” [1]

Her public roles include being a UN Messenger for Peace.

It is said that she has the nobility of his father and the beauty of her mother Queen Alia al-Hussein.

Princess Haya is the founder of the first food aid non-governmental organisation in the Arab world known as Tkiyet Um Ali, chair of Sport and Solidarity – a group that raises money from sports events to help children around the world, honorary president of the Queen Alia Foundation for the Hearing and Speech Impaired, and member of the International Olympic Committee.
