Wormwood is the name of the star, from the Book of Revelation. Wormwood is a translation of the Greek abdinthos and is a stupefying often lethal plant product[1].
The London open space called Wormwood Scrubs (and the prison of the same name) does not derive its name from wormwood, but is a corruption of Wormholt, 'the wood of the snakes' (worm: snake; holt: wood).
