"Progressive creation" or the "day-age interpretation" of creation is an interpretation of creation which, like Gap theory allows Christianity to be in step with scientific discoveries about the age of the earth.
It suggests that creation took place over a much longer period of time than the literal six days and, depending on the version, does not necessarily need the "days" to be in order.
