In early February 2017 Ignatius came under FBI investigation in relation to leaks of classified information that led to the resignation of Gen. Michael Flynn, President Donald Trump's first appointment as National Security Advisor.[3] Teven Schrage suggests Stepan Halper may be the source of the leak to Ignatius of the Michael Flynn/Sergei Kislyak phone call.[4]
On September 12, 2023 Ignatius opined in an Washington Post op-ed that President Biden Should Not Run Again In 2024.[5]
