When translating the Bible it is important to capture the original author's meaning so you need to understand the original author's language and culture.
The Ancient Near East culture of the Jews at the time of Jesus was a tribal/clan culture.[1] So in this regard, it was very dissimilar to contemporary American culture which is very individualistic. So using a "A personal rendition of this phrase" is wrongheaded.
Globalism wasn't even a thing in the 2nd century. And widespread depression and addiction wasn't an issue either.
Given the above, I suspect the suggested translation in the article is a poor one.
I am sticking with "Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."Conservative (talk) 08:19, July 17, 2023 (EDT)

- Kings reign and politicians in constitutional republics or democracies govern. Also, the other 3 literal translations of the Bible translate the word in question to "kingdom". Also, all 4 of the literal translations use the word "earth". Was Jesus a globalist? Globalism wasn't even a thing in the 2nd century as I noted above. Conservative (talk) 22:37, July 20, 2023 (EDT)
