Carbajal is a member of the New Democrat Coalition.

U.S. House of Representatives

2016 election

After then-representative Lois Capps announced that she would not seek re-election to another House term in 2016,[1] Carbajal ran for the seat and won by just under 7% of the votes cast.[2]

2018 election

Rep. Carbajal was re-election in the 2018 Midterms by a seventeen-point margin.[3]

Tenure

Carbajal has campaigned with fellow Democrat representative Tony Cardenas despite a molestation charge having been filed against the latter then.[4]

In late June 2019, Carbajal endorsed Beto O'Rourke for president.[5] After the latter dropped out, the representative endorsed Kamala Harris.[6]

Carbajal supported[7] and voted in favor of[8] the impeachment coup against Donald Trump.

Phony “moderate”

Despite being described by some as having "a moderate sensibility",[9] Carbajal is among the co-sponsors of the radical Green New Deal[10] and has been praised by Pramila Jayapal[11] for backing Medicare for All.[12] He has also co-sponsored a carbon tax bill introduced by RINO Brian Fitzpatrick.[13]
