Gender Gap is the real or perceived tendency for men and women to have different views on certain political issues, different levels of obtainment in various skill sets, and even different populations in various programs - for example, AP classes.
The "Gender gap" is one reason liberal provided for Title IX funding in schools, to provide "access" for female students to sports, sporting venues, and competition.
