In the major sports leagues featuring both American and Canadian teams, both O Canada and The Star Spangled Banner are played before the game, with the visiting team's anthem played first and the home team's anthem played afterwards.  (The [[Buffalo Sabres]], due to their large Canadian fan base, play both anthems regardless of opponent.)  It is common for the anthem to be sung in a mix of English and French due to Canada's official linguistic duality.

O Canada is the national anthem of Canada. It is important to distinguish between 'O Canada', the national anthem, and 'God Save The Queen', which is the Royal anthem, played as a salute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as Queen of Canada.

The Official Lyrics are :

O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all of us command.[1]

With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free!

From far and wide, O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

In the major sports leagues featuring both American and Canadian teams, both O Canada and The Star Spangled Banner are played before the game, with the visiting team's anthem played first and the home team's anthem played afterwards. (The Buffalo Sabres, due to their large Canadian fan base, play both anthems regardless of opponent.) It is common for the anthem to be sung in a mix of English and French due to Canada's official linguistic duality.
