Bollywood is the name for the growing movie industry centered in Mumbai (formerly called Bombay), India.
It is the world's biggest movie producer, producing about three new movies every day - more than Hollywood.
Bollywood films are shown in theaters throughout India, all Europe, the Middle East, and worldwide. The DVD and video market is even larger.
The word is a combination of the "B" from Bombay and "Hollywood".
Increasingly Bollywood stars are gaining a global following, and they tour the United States and United Kingdom from time to time.
