My real name is Tom Major, and I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I have a passion for learning God's Word and growing in a deeper relationship with my Savior. I see no conflict between faith and knowledge, and simply see faith as another type of knowledge, rather than antithetical to knowledge. I also have a passion for reaching out to the world through street evangelism and the aid of wiki software. I am an administrator of the following Christian wiki sites.

Education

Highschool:

• Graduated from Churchville Christian School. Some gen-eds were taken at CCBC.

College:

• Graduated with an Associates degree as a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, at the Community College of Baltimore County.
• Currently attending Emmaus Bible College, with the goal of getting a double-major in Biblical Studies and Computer Information Systems. Also, Lord-willing I will be getting a minor in Biblical Languages.

Future ambitions:

• Seminary. Possibly DTS. Still looking.

Conservapedia Stuff

Observations of Conservapedia

The following are my overall, big-picture observations of Conservapedia's content. My thoughts here are possibly complaints, but my complaints are also things I will attempt to work on. I don't believe in coming to a website just to complain if I am not going to do anything myself :-).

Too Much of a Cultural Focus

It seems like Conservapedia tends to be very culturally focused rather than information focused. And by that I don't mean that we should not address culturally relevant issues, but sometimes the articles overly address them. For example, the Video game article starts like this, "Video games are electronic games commonly played by a wide portion of the population." The only definition of what a video game is that I saw was "electronic game." Even in that first sentence we encounter a cultural item: "a wide portion of the population." The rest of the paragraph and article seems to focus on types of games, genres, laws, moral issues, etc, but there is no other explicit definition of what a Video game actually is.

Now I realize it's a work in progress, and this may not and does not reflect every article. There are some articles that have very careful and explicit definitions, but this one does not.

Right now that is probably my only major complaint, since I haven't been very actively involved.

Many articles need better structure

I have been editing the Atheism and Theory of evolution articles recently, and just realizing that it's not that they have bad content, but it's not organized in such a way as to easily sort through it. What Conservapedia needs is people who know how to look at the big picture of an article and categorize and put in subheadings the topics that are already addressed in its text.

We Need Groups of People to Handle Categories of Content

One thing I like about Wikipedia is that it has "WikiProjects" or groups that manage and oversee large sections of content. For example, a group of people might manage all there is to know about science (and there would be sub groups under this). Another group might manage all there is to know under geography, technology, etc. Now, I realize that we do not have as many people constantly editing Conservapedia as Wikipedia does theirs, but I think it would be wise to start something like this. Maybe our first project should simply be organizing a group to organize groups :-).

Cities need no states

Can you please remove the state from the title of these cities articles: Minden, Monroe, Alexandria, Pineville, Ruston, Natchitoches, Louisiana; Camden and Fort Smith, Arkansas, and San Angelo, Texas.
