A worldview is an individual's set of beliefs which affect the way they see and respond to the world. A worldview could be described as the roots of a tree, which are not visible, but have profound effects on the part of the tree that is visible, and individual's actions.
The term is a translation of the German philosophical term Weltanschaung.
One's worldview is often closely tied to one's beliefs about God. Some major worldviews are: Christianity, Islam, Marxism, New Age Movment, Humanism, and Postmodernism.
