Glenn Youngkin is the Governor-elect of his home state of Virginia. A Republican, he narrowly defeated the Democrat former Governor Terry McAuliffe in the 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election, a victory that is widely considered a rejection of the left-wing, establishmentarian presidency of Joe Biden.

Youngkin won with 50.7 percent of the popular vote. Even far-left biased newspaper The Guardian admitted that the victory constitutes "a blow" to Joe Biden, who campaigned with McAuliffe before going to a climate change conference to which Russia and China did not send delegates.[1]
