Brave is an internet browser developed by Brave Software, Inc. based on the Chromium browser. Brave blocks known advertisements and trackers by default, as well as known phishing and malware-serving websites. Brave supports Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. The current version features five default search engines: Bing, Duck Duck Go, Google, Startpage and Yahoo.[1] They also use Tor in their private browsing mode.[2]

Brave was founded on May 28, 2015, by the conservative CEO Brendan Eich[3], the co-founder of Mozilla[4] and creator of the javascript programming language.[5] It was originally situated in Delaware, where it was known as Hyperware Labs, Inc. They later moved to California where they were renamed as Brave Software, Inc.
