Judge Gonzalo Curiel serves as a judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
President Barack Obama appointed him to the bench in 2011. He has gained notoriety through his handling of the lawsuit involving "Trump University," one of several enterprises founded and run by Donald J. Trump, who ran for President in 2016.
In fact, Judge Curiel revealed[1] freely his association with the Mexican advocacy group La Raza and its lawyers' association.[2] Moreover he has perhaps sullied his reputation for impartiality with a series of questionable rulings.[3]
