The Sinclair ZX81 was one of the earliest low-cost home computers, retailing at around £70 in 1981. It had a 4 Kb rom (containing a limited BASIC Language) and 1Kb memory. It had an black and white TV output and a tape cassette input. A 16 Kb memory pack could be added (around £50) but programmes using this memory would take around five minutes to load.
