Young Harris College

Young Harris College is a private, residential, liberal arts institution, founded in 1884 in the southern Appalachian Mountains of northeast Georgia, two hours north of Atlanta. Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, the College has an endowment of $110 million, one of the largest of any private two-year college in the nation. The 533 students represent 34 states and 19 foreign countries, and 84% of freshman Georgia students are HOPE recipients, indicating high academic performance. Tuition is $14,730.

It is cuurently a two-year school but it was accredited in 2009 to offer baccalaureate degrees and anticipates conferring its first baccalaureate degrees in 2011. In the fall of 2009, the College will offer upper-level coursework with majors in Music, Biology, English and Business/Public Policy. Additional majors are likely to be added every year for the foreseeable future.
