Yorkshire and the Humber

Yorkshire and the Humber is a statistical region in the north of England, established in 1994. It consist of a collection of council areas that lie mainly within the county Yorkshire, with the south east of the region being in northern Lincolnshire. Small areas of Derbyshire (around Sheffield) and Lancashire are also included. However, not all of Yorkshire lies within the region; the Forest of Bowland is administered by Lancashire County Council and an area of the north west of Yorkshire around Sedbergh is in Westmorland and Furness Council, both are thus statistically classed as North West of England. Some areas of Yorkshire around the River Tees, such as Middlesbrough, are in the North East of England for statistical purposes.
