The World Championship Kinetic Sculpture Race is the original event of its kind. It is a three-day event in Humboldt County, California staged on Memorial Day weekend each year. In 1969, Hobart Brown converted a tricycle into a human powered work of art and raced two friends down the Main Street of Ferndale, California. The event caught on, and has grown to a three-day event with as many as 40 teams entering.
