William F. Halsey

Captain William Frederick Halsey (April 11, 1853 - June 11, 1920) was an officer in the United States Navy. Halsey graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1872. He won medals for his service in the Spanish American War, during which he commanded the USS Newark, and in World War I. His son, William F. Halsey, Jr., was also a naval officer who commanded the Third Fleet in the Pacific during World War II.
