WikicharliE
WikicharliE is a virtual Encyclopedia of Chile, an innovative Chilean project, created as a free virtual system of general information.[1][2]
It was born on May 9, 2012 at 6.18 am, in response to the need to create a community and Chilean virtual exchange Encyclopedia, with solid information, close through a friendly page. WikicharliE is a project organized and constituted with serious, academic and legal bases by the hand of Cablevisiontv Chile and Scientia ONG, in October 2015 joins VisualXpress[3], a platform for dissemination and media information.
It has plenty of articles about Chile and its history, specially the War of the Pacific (1879-1885) which Chile won against Peru and Bolivia.
Its name
The Name WikicharliE comes from two words joined: Wiki: in reference to the system used as a platform to create the encyclopedia, and Charlie: name given by North American and European virnauts to Chilean virnauts, (Chile, Charlie, Charlie Bravo).
Visits
WikicharliE was visited at an average of 104 000 daily visits as of October 2015, totaling more than eight million visits in three years.
Added to this must be added the progress that has had Its Engineering and Systems Department has advanced to provide a better service.
Acknowledgements
In 2014 WikicharliE was awarded with the "Bussiness ideas 2014" prize, given by the Government of Chile and Sercotec for the effort, dedication and achievements of its creators.[4]
