The WWE Championship is the top championship in World Wrestling Entertainment, as well as the oldest current championship existing in the promotion. It is currently held by Bobby Lashley, who has been the titleholder since he won the belt from The Miz on March 1, 2021.[1] The title was first established on April 25, 1963 as the World Wide Wrestling Federation World Heavyweight Championship following the then-WWWF withdrawing from the National Wrestling Alliance, with former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Buddy Rogers recognized as the first WWWF Champion.
