Volapük was a constructed language invented in 1879 to serve as an international language. The name "Volapük" is Volapük for "World Language."[1]
The vocabulary was based on English, German, and Latin, although the words were changed, sometimes drastically, to fit Volapük phonology. The language had an elaborate morphology; the verb could have over 500,000 forms.
