Constructive proof

Hi Hilbert. Great user name. Hilbert is a great hero of mine.

I noticed that you added a statement about how non-constructive proofs are the only way to prove the insolvability of the quintic. As the proof of the insolvability of the quintic is one of the highlights of Galois theory you should know that this edit may not be looked on favorably by certain sysops here. Galois is quite the hero at Conservapedia as he was home schooled. Non constructive proofs are not in favor here. Drawing attention to the fact that the proof is non-constructive could cause you trouble. AndyJM 07:25, 18 January 2009 (EST)

Andy, please do not fill Hilbert's mind with silly notions. His edits to Constructive proof were fine. It's well known that certain theorems currently only have nonelementary proofs: such was the case with the Prime Number Theorem for many years, but the work of talented mathematicians overcame that obstacle. The important part of Hilbert's edit was: "Indeed, even after a nonconstructive proof is found for a result, work will still continue until a more useful constructive proof is found." This is what I invite you to take home from Hilbert's edit. Please stop casting aspersions about "certain sysops"; we do not block for ideological reasons here. If anything, your incesssant "corrections" to AC, elementary proof, etc are the ones that are ideological. -Foxtrot 22:54, 18 January 2009 (EST)
