Personal identity

For woman, a proper relationship with both mother and father play very important parts in the daughter's healthy development. From the mother, the daughter develops her sense of the woman she wants to be; from the father, the daughter learns healthy respect and love of man. If the daughter sees in her mother everything she doesn't want to become as female, it opens the door to the daughter's failing to accept a healthy female identity. If the mother is abusive, domineering, unloving, and constantly critical of her daughter, the daughter doesn't bond with the mom and misses out on the opportunity to learn what it means to be a woman.[1]
