United Nations Resolution 242, a resolution by the Security Council of the United Nations after the Six-Day War in Israel, tried to make sense of conflicting territorial claims after the dust had settled from that war. Instead it made hash of diplomatic relations in the region and has been the convenient subject of distortion of international law ever since.
