The Star and Crescent is a symbol of Islam. It is featured in the national flag of Algeria, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, Mauritania, Pakistan, and Turkey, amongst others
Transgender and Islam concerns the rejection by Islam of the transgender ideology. In June 2022, the Fiqh Council of North America unanimously rejected transgenderism:
| “ | Therefore, those who wish to abide by the Shariah must identify their gender with their biological sex (this includes the issue of personal pronouns) and live by the rulings associated with that gender.[1] | ” |
Abbas Shouman, the secretary-general of Al-Azhar’s Council of Senior Scholars in Cairo, was quoted as saying that “for us, … sex conversion is completely rejected. It is [Allah] who has determined the ... sex of the fetus and intervening to change that is a change of [Allah]’s creation, which is completely rejected.” Deepa Bharath, David Crary and Mariam Fam, “Transgender inclusion?
