A tip is a small monetary reward given to someone for a service well- performed. Tips are commonly given to taxi-drivers, waiters, waitresses, cloakroom attendants, etc. For most services, a typical tip in the United States is 15-20% of the regular bill.

A tip is also a piece of advice or information given free.

In Britain, a rubbish dump is also sometimes called a tip.[1]
