Tie A Yellow Ribbon (Round The Old Oak Tree) is a 1970's popular song from the trio Tony Orlando and Dawn.

In the song, the singer has just been released from prison after a six-year stint (the reason not given), and wants to reunite with a special someone (the actual relationship is not defined). He asks the person to follow the directions in the song title if she wants him back, as the bus bringing him home will pass in front of their house. If he doesn't see a ribbon, he will stay on the bus, and accept full blame for the relationship ending.

However, as the bus passes the house, all the passengers cheer: the person has tied "a hundred" ribbons, signifying that a reunion is clearly desired.
