Thomas Ravenel (R) South Carolina

  • Former Real Estate Developer
  • South Carolina Treasurer
  • Senior Adviser to Republican candidate Rudy Giuliani

Columbia, South Carolina - Thomas Ravenel, Treasurer of South Carolina, was brought up on criminal charges for cocaine possession and distribution. This comes as a setback for Republican presidential candidate, Rudy Giuliani. Ravenel has discontinued his volunteer efforts for Giuliani's campaign, according to Giuliani's political director, Mark Cambell. Ravenel was caught with less than 500 grams of cocaine. Authorities believed that Ravenel had intentions to sell the drug. Ravenel has released statements saying the drug was for personal use with his friends. If the charges stick, the 44 year old millionaire could face the next 20 years of his life behind bars.
