The National
The National, or the Paisley Pravda,[1] is an extreme left-wing propaganda newspaper in Scotland. It served as the main mouthpiece of the Sturgeon regime's one-party police state under the Scottish National Party. The newspaper has been compared to Pravda by Andrew Neil.[2]
The National celebrates the Anglophobic, Nazi sympathising Scottish supremacist Hugh MacDiarmid.[3]
Racism
The National is racist. It has published articles that have been blasted by the Scottish Conservatives as "xenophobic".
On 4 August 2022, the SNP pravda published a xenophobic letter about the Lionesses, the England women's national football team. The letter calls on those in Scotland who were supporting the England women's side to "move to England". The writer goes on to say he does not "understand why John Lamont (his local MP) and my neighbours don't move to England if they love the Union so much". The letter was apparently written by Tony Kime from Kelso, just four miles from the English border. He states that "the English have nothing else to celebrate".[4]
