Tony Randall was the best known of the three hosts of the variety show, The Hippodrome.

The Hippodrome, named for a landmark British theatre, is also the title of a CBS summer replacement variety program that aired at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday in 1966 in place of The Red Skelton Hour, which went on hiatus. The series hosts were Frances Dean, Frank Foster, and Tony Randall (1920-2004).

The variety acts included trapeze, brass bands, jumping dogs, vaudeville and contemporary singers and musicians. Several stars hosted one episode each of the series, Eddie Albert, Woody Allen, Bill Dana, Jimmy Dean, and Merv Griffin.[1]
