The casualty figures are all the CCP figures. Then, the period of time that that the PLA brought in bulldozers to scrape up the remains of thousands of people machine-gunned and run over by APCs, set on fire, and the ashes hosed down into the sewer is covered by claiming the PLA was resting and eating ramen noodles. What Tiananmen demonstrates is that, struggles for democracy, and wars for independence in the past which may have taken half a decade or longer, in modern urban warfare with conventional weapons against an unarmed population can be decided in less than 12 hours.
