Talk:Theory of relativity/draft

In case anyone is wondering why this page exists, I'm writing a new version of this article, in an attempt to make it more scientifically sound. Geekman314(contact me) 11:40, 10 March 2007 (EST)

Is anyone going to add anything of substance? It only has 4 sentences, and it is misleading already. RSchlafly 16:30, 27 March 2007 (EDT)

I'll take a crack at it now. I have a basic understanding of special relativity. Its a very tough cookie to crack though and without delving into huge scientific proofs its hard to explain properly! I shall give it my best though. MatteeNeutra 16:37, 27 March 2007 (EDT)

Please, do delve into huge scientific proofs. We want this to be a good, non-Conservapedia-esque article. Liπus the Turbogeek(contact me) 22:38, 30 March 2007 (EDT)

I believe Andrew would want us to state that the Theory of Relativity is a materalistic theory like the theory of evolution.--TimS 16:42, 27 March 2007 (EDT)

I look forward to seeing the end result. There should be no issue here, as physics is physics.PalMD

On the contrary, PalMD.... as I see it, time is under the exclusive control of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and the way I see it, He's manipulating it with his Noodly Appendage just to futz with our science. "Haha, that'll confuse the suckers," He says, for lo, his ways are inscrutable. Sorry, I couldn't resist. But seriously, this article is shaping up great. I started as a physics major in college, and relativity scared me away, but law seems fun, so no harm :-) -AmesGyo! 17:12, 27 March 2007 (EDT)
Unless it involves, say, radiometric dating, geophysics, stellar/galactic formation, cosmology, thermodynamics... Tsumetai 11:26, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

Hmmm...how do you do formulae and stuff in wiki? I've never tried anything like it before. General relativity is, erm, difficult! Would probably need an expert to even attempt to describe it.MatteeNeutra 17:16, 27 March 2007 (EDT)

Ever used LaTeX? Tsumetai 11:26, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
Can't say I have. How does it work?? If you can point out an example of its use I can probably just learn from looking, if that makes sense.MatteeNeutra 11:28, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
There's a good introduction here. Just stick a LaTeX formula between <math></math> tags. Tsumetai 11:33, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
Cheers, I'll take a look and give it a go! MatteeNeutra 11:48, 28 March 2007 (EDT)

Mass-energy equivalence

Made a few changes here, but it still needs work. Note that refers to rest mass, and so we need to be careful not to confuse the issue. I'll have another crack when I get home, if no one else does. Tsumetai 11:57, 28 March 2007 (EDT)
