Is there a similar term in Hinduism, or is that term completely different? DanH 14:56, 22 February 2008 (EST)

Yes, sati or suttee refers to the Hindu custom of a widow immolating herself on her husband's funeral pyre. It is Sanskrit, and etymologically unrelated to the Pali term defined here. Dadsnagem2 11:29, 25 February 2008 (EST)
