Is this the Ring Cycle, and is it better known in English (or to Americans) by that title, much as Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, Op. 27, No. 2, is best known as the "Moonlight Sonata"? --Ed Poor Talk 08:56, 31 January 2010 (EST)

Indeed it is. I'm a step ahead of you, having created the redirect already. JDWpianist 08:57, 31 January 2010 (EST)
No, I saw that redirect and was wondering whether to "move" the article over it.
By the way is this humorous account correct? "The Rhine maidens are looking after a lump of magic gold. And the magic of this gold consists of the fact that anybody who will renounce love and make a ring out of this gold will become Master of the Universe." If so, that would tie in with the One Ring of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. --Ed Poor Talk 08:59, 31 January 2010 (EST)
I'll leave it up to you, whether it would be helpful to move things around to give preference to "Ring Cycle." And yes, that is a correct characterization. There are further parallels between Wagner's Ring and LOTR, as the ring also carries a curse in Wagner's version. I'm not sure, but Tolkien must have been influenced by it. (btw, looks like I might need to start a "Moonlight" page as well.) JDWpianist 09:07, 31 January 2010 (EST)
When you come back, next week, right? :-) --Ed Poor Talk 09:41, 31 January 2010 (EST)
