re: "free" vs. "open" - I removed "free" because it implies "without cost." Taxpayers do pay for libraries. However, I see Karajou's point about access to libraries being open to the public. Hopefully this word is more precise. PhilScheur 11:56, 22 September 2008 (EDT)

Isn't there examples of public libraries which charge a fee for services and/or entry? I was thinking of that as well when I inserted "free" into it. Karajou 11:58, 22 September 2008 (EDT)

I think there are some who charge for certain services (borrowing movies, for instance) but I've never heard of an entry fee... PhilScheur 13:56, 22 September 2008 (EDT)
