Dif'rent strokes for dif'rent folks, I suppose. Kiri te Kanawa would call him a "microphone singer", like Russell Watson et al. I am afraid I winced when I heard his " Nessum Dorma"; and he got shot out of the water by "BBC Music" magazine recently when they did a blind tasting (so to speak)of ten tenors doing that increasingly ubiquitous aria. (I'm a Bjoerling man myself if I had to pick just one tenor for all seasons.)But please...oh please! listen to Giuseppe di Steffano's 1947 version of "E lucevan le stelle"
