Trial in absentia
The second paragraph of the "Trial in absentia" section seems to suggest that Eichmann was tried in absentia. Is this correct? Bohdan 00:26, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
- According to Ostrovsky, this appears to be what happened. IOW, the State of Israel does not have a double jeopardy clause either, an individual can be tried twice for the same crime. Also, Eichmann to the best of my knowledge is the only person ever executed for a capital crime(s) in Israel, which perhaps somewhere should be reflected in CP. The entry on capital punishment might state flatly that Israel does not have capital punishment, which is false; capital punishment is reserved for certain crimes in Israel, and to the best of my knowledge no legislation has ever occurred since Eichmann's execution banning further executions (but I could be wrong on that). - I believe camp guard was also tried, convicted, and sentenced to death, but then later aquitted. Bohdan
