"King Tiger" is an Allied nickname for this tank. The Germans never called it that. "King Tiger" would be Königlicher Tiger.. Königstiger means Bengal Tiger.--GMFrazer 20:47, 2 November 2012 (EDT)

Actually, Tiger II is the common name of it. The official German designation was Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. B or PzKpfw VIB Tiger II; shortened to Tiger B. It was also known on an informal basis, by the Germans, as Königstiger, which in German does mean "Bengal tiger", as you note; however, to Allied intelligence and soldiers during the war (and as written still in many English language books) it is known as (and translated as) King Tiger or Royal Tiger. --JohnJustice 11:42, 3 November 2012 (EDT)
