Good on 'em. If people believe that, let them. It's called freedom of speech... ay Cons. AlanE (talk) 21:41, 9 March 2017 (EST)

Setting aside that I know that evolution is a religion and pseudoscience, I find the whole holiday odd. Science and scientific disciplines are merely tools. And for that reason, I view the celebration as odd. Hammers are used far more often that evolutionism and I just can't see having celebrations for men who made breakthroughs in relation to hammer technology.
Many Darwinists are also into scientism. And I view scientism and science fetishists as naive. There are plenty of ways to know things outside of science and I think they have a poor understanding of the limitations of science and the history of science.
If I were to celebrate a holiday for scientist/technologist, it would be for someone like Louis Pasteur, Robert Boyle, Isaac Newton or Charles Babbage.
"Dr Marc Kirschner, chair of the Department of Systems Biology, Harvard Medical School, stated: “In fact, over the last 100 years, almost all of biology has proceeded independent of evolution, except evolutionary biology itself. Molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, have not taken evolution into account at all.” Dr Skell wrote, “It is our knowledge of how these organisms actually operate, not speculations about how they may have arisen millions of years ago, that is essential to doctors, veterinarians, farmers … .” Evolution actually hinders medical discovery. Then why do schools and universities teach evolution so dogmatically, stealing time from experimental biology that so benefits humankind?"[1] Nobody would ever says this about the accomplishments of Louis Pasteur.
